Humanity’s ability to believe has shaped the world we live in. Because no one knows anything for certain about the future. You have to believe that what you do will work. Harald Bluetooth didn’t know the consequences when he Christianized the Danes. Ole Kirk Christiansen couldn’t foresee the present-day LEGO® when he started making wooden toys in 1932.
The Moravian Church had no idea they were creating a UNESCO World Heritage site when they built Christiansfeld. And Frederik 3. didn’t know where it would lead when he dreamed of creating a European metropolis with the fortress town of Fredericia. But they all had faith in the future.
A faith that moved mountains.
Under the heading "Can faith move mountains" you can join four selected audio tours. Put on your walking shoes and put your earphones in your ears and discover the stories of how belief in something greater helped shape the cities of Fredericia, Jelling, Billund and Christiansfeld.
The Vikings' beliefs were tied to a world populated by creatures, demigods, and deceased humans. It was also an expansive world.
In 1768, Christian 7. embarked on a grand tour of Europe. Along the way, the king and his entourage visited the Moravian settlement of Zeist in the Netherlands.
Fredericia was founded as a fortress town in 1650. And the location made military sense.
It started with the Inner Mission. But it was the mission of playing well that developed LEGO® and Billund.
